New Sports Cars of 2009

Every year the automobile industry introduces another amazing group of new models of sports cars. In order to outdo both themselves and their competition, they must make this new wave more impressive than ever. 2009 is certainly going to be no exception to this rule as the newest models are being unveiled and truly wowing audiences. As one can expect, green fuels and technologies are becoming a big part of the automobile industry, so next year’s models are indicative of that. The purists have nothing to worry about though, as the 2009 line of automobiles has something for everyone.

Automakers from all over the world have a lot to brag about. Take French automobile manufacturer Bugatti for example. They recently unveiled the 2009 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. This car features a removable roof, an amazing 16 cylinder engine, and a hefty $2 million price tag. Even this amazing car was upstaged by the CCXR produced by Swedish Koenigsegg Company. This car sports a more rational 8 cylinder engine that may even be more powerful than Bugatti’s 16 cylinder model. This may just go to show that bigger is not necessarily better.

The Chevrolet Company is pushing its barriers in its newest model of the Corvette sports car. The new ZR1 produces 638 hp which practically makes it a race car for the road. This car can actually go 0-60 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds. It can go a maximum speed of 205 miles per hour and carries a price tag of $102,450. This is a car that Chevrolet can proudly state to hold its own to its big competitors such as Lamborghini and Ferrari, but at a price that many more people will be able to afford. In fact, it has even been called the Ferrari for the common man.

With all the talk of a coming recession, and an economy that could in many ways be improved, the sports car industry is doing better than ever. These automobile factories are not seeing any kind of slow down and are producing some of the more interesting models to be designed to date. Some of these new buyers of high priced cars include the newly retiring baby boomer generation. These are people that have been saving for years and are finally ready to buy the car that they have longer for all of their lives.

One of these new car models stands out from the others due to the fact that it is very friendly to the environment. This is the Tesla Roadster. Created by British auto-manufacturer Lotus, the sports car actually does not have a traditional motor. Instead it has been given a lithium ion battery. The car in no way compromises on anything to achieve its green status and can go from 0 to 60 in a shocking 3.9 seconds. It can also go 220 miles in one charge. This type of car may very well be much more common in the future, and as such this makes a great experiment.
