Serious Australian Contender for American Le Mans Series
Skea has two types of cars for the competitions, however in keeping with his collection they are both Porsches. The Porsche 3.6L Flat-6 will be driven by Richard Dean of the UK, and the Porsche 911 GT3-R will be driven by Johnny Mowlem, also from the UK.
Rohan Skea’s team will be competing in the Race of a Thousand Years which is the final round of the American Le Mans Series season and is an endurance race (thus the name). The race will be over 1,000km long. Rohan Skea’s racing team is the first Australian owned and managed motorsport team to be invited to compete at the Le Mans 24 Hour Race.
The organization behind the American Le Mans Series is Professional Sports Car Racing. As well as Porsche, brands such as Audi, Dodge, BMW, Cadillac, the will also be competing in the endurance race. The main team contenders are from the USA; however Germany has also put forth a few teams.
Fellow Aussie Des Wall, of Camden, will be taking part in the race as part of Skea’s team; Des has been a regular participant in the Bathurst International Motor Festival at Mt Panorama in NSW, Australia.
Rohan Skea is a professional race car driver and the Skea Racing team has factories in Cambridge, United Kingdom and Charlotte, North Carolina, however, as with most of Rohan Skea’s business dealings the headquarters is in Perth, Australia.
Rohan Skea has been an active community member in Perth all his life and after studying Law at Monash University Rohan Skea has worked with some high profile law firms, and specialized in corporate law and M&A. He also has a fancy for recyling car parts.
